HOCKEY CHEER TRYOUT INFORMATION

• CURRENT (2024-25) 8th grade students at Our Lady of Grace Catholic School will register for tryouts using the Tryout Form 2024-25 Google form.
• CURRENT (2024-25) 8th-12th grade students that attend an Edina Public School school will register HERE.

*Note- Students are NOT allowed to tryout without an up-to-date physical on file (sport physicals are valid for 3 years). A copy of the sport physical form can be found HERE. You can contact Christine Hanson if you need to check on your child's sport physical status.

Registration for the 2024-2025 Fall Season will begin on July 15, 2024.

• Students must have an up-to-date physical (within 3 years) on file with the Activities Office. Updated physicals can be faxed to (952) 848-3818 or emailed to ehsactivitiesandathletics@edinaschools.org.
• Students must also be registered through the EHS Activities Registration site.

Varsity - Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 4:30 - 6:30 PM @ Edina High School Fieldhouse

JV - Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays 5:30 - 7:30 PM @ Valley View Middle School Gyms

Junior High - Tuesdays and Thursdays 6 - 8 PM @ Edina High School Fieldhouse

Edina Cheerleading is generally a six to nine month time commitment. We welcome athletes of all skill levels to tryout for our program. Tumbling is highly recommended, but not necessarily a requirement. Depending on the volume of athletes and the skill level at tryouts there could be cuts at all levels of the program.

Practice & Competition Rules:

• No gum, jewelry, or glitter.
• Hair pulled back - off shoulders and out of eyes.
• Nails must be cut for stunting safely.
• No cell phones on.
• Bring water!
• Always eat before practice and competitions.

Practice & Competition Expectations:

• Be on time!
• Be ready to work hard & accept constructive criticism from coaches.
• Use appropriate language at all times.

Be Proud to be an Edina Cheerleader:

• Be cooperative & respectful to coaches and teammates.
• Be courteous and helpful to other cheerleaders, classmates, and spectators.
• Remember that someone is always watching & will know that you are an Edina Cheerleader.
• Be proud and act appropriately.
• Always communicate with the coaching staff if you have a problem or concern.

Stunting Rules:

• Never stunt without a coach.
• Never try stunts that your coach has not approved.
• Always be an attentive spotter.
• No horseplay while stunting.
• No talking while stunting, it is distracting & unsafe.
• Trust your coaches – we will make final decisions concerning stunting.

Be the Best Athlete You Can Be:

• Give your body proper rest!
• Know the difference between pain and injury.
• Have a friendly and positive attitude.
• Give 100% effort ALWAYS!
• Drink lots of water to stay hydrated.
